The dog waited for its owner for three years on the doorstep of an empty house.

There are many stories about canine loyalty, and this is one of them. It happened in Busan, South Korea. An elderly woman who once rescued a small dog from the street lived there.

Since then, they were always seen together—a senior lady and her dog, whom she named Fu Shi. One day, Fu Shi’s owner fell ill. She was taken to the hospital and later placed in a nursing home. The woman was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and no longer remembered the dog. Her relatives couldn’t take care of her or the dog.

As a result, Fu Shi was left alone in an empty house. Every morning, she would sit on the doorstep, guarding the house and waiting for her owner, and at night, she would go to the bedroom and sleep on her master’s bed. The neighbors noticed the lonely dog and began feeding her.

Kind women in the neighborhood brought Fu Shi tasty food and petted her, often wiping away tears. In response, the dog wagged her tail and licked their hands.

This went on for three years. By then, the dog was already 8 years old and might have died on the doorstep of the house where she had once been happy if journalists hadn’t learned about her story. One of the neighbors finally thought to contact the media and an animal protection organization.

Journalists filmed the story of the loyal dog, which aired on television in many countries across Asia and Europe. Viewers were deeply moved by the story of the little lonely dog, and new owners were quickly found for her.

Now, the dog is named Skye. She received some medical treatment and is now in perfect health. According to her new owners, she is doing well, getting plenty of food, attention, and care. They also expressed gratitude to all the kind-hearted people who sent gifts for the dog—such as toys, clothing, and food.
